Dan Wieten: The Omega Experiment

Happy Thanksgiving, Y'all! Time for dessert...

It was great to meet with fellow musician, recording artist and talented guitarist/multi-tasker Dan Wieten to discuss his solo project, the story behind its name, the mystery of Muskegon's punk scene and a multitude of other interesting topics.

He showed up on time and ready to share some of the interest behind the collaborative solo project he has been working on for over the last year. Beyond this incarnation, Dan has performed in many bands in the past and is currently involved with other local musicians in other projects, as well.

Check out the podcast, which is 30 minutes long and comprised of our conversation over coffee and also features three songs at the end, starting at about 12 minutes in. Ranging in style and genre from techno to electronic tech metal and everything in between, Dan is representative of a solo artist and recording engineer who has been cultivating his own brand in Muskegon for over a decade.

Thanks to Dan for his participation and we hope you enjoy the tracks! Make sure to check out The Omega Experiment at:

SIP PODCAST: Episode 1

_________________________

We’re happy to see you here! Over the next few months, you can expect to see a lot of great things happening here. Hailing from Muskegon, Mi, we will be exploring our local scene and the surrounding Western Michigan area.

On a weekly basis, we will be publishing podcasts recorded on site at local businesses. You can expect to hear artists, interviews and other news from unsigned and independent sources with our weekly hosts. These updates will also be published to the blog, and we also plan to support the local scene as much as possible through our calendar, reviews, photo and videos as well.

If you’re a listener, we’re glad to have you. If you are an artist…don’t wait to send us your material. You don’t have to be signed by a record label or worried about how your recording quality measures up to others. We’d like to take the liberty of reviewing and adding as much local talent as possible, so please send us mp3 submissions on our website under the submissions link, which includes easy to follow directions and guidelines. Also visit the Facebook page to start interacting with us. If you’re a local business interested in advertising, please visit the website and click on our sponsors link. We’d love to hear from you! Finally, if you’re interested in being part of our street team or staff, don’t hesitate to stop by and introduce yourself.

Thanks for joining us in our mission to elevate independent music!
