Bury The Silence
1) We support local, independent and original music from Muskegon and surrounding West Michigan areas
2)We’re completely free and
3) we need your help to grow. Please do something for the local music scene and share us today on FB! We appreciate your help and so do the local artists and businesses we feature.
So--on the menu today is a five piece from Muskegon Michigan called “Bury the Silence”. If you had to describe their genre simply, you might start with tech metal…or at least I would. But you’ll probably need to give it a listen to know for sure. I know one thing: you’ll definitely walk away thinking, “this band is heavy!” And, for having such young members, impressively technical as well.
The tracks on today's podcast are featured on the band's new CD "Phobiotic", which can also be found on bandcamp.com and at their FB page: Bury The Silence. Make sure you check them out!
They also happened to be very friendly and enthusiastic when we met for our interview at Firehouse Guitars in Muskegon, Michigan. Listen to the interview for their thoughts on who the workhorse of the band is, who slacks off at practice, and where they draw their inspiration--plus more!
We’re thankful for their sponsorship of this podcast and make sure you stop in and check out the large selection of guitars, bass guitars, amps, drums and all musical supplies, as well as the broad range of staff available for private lessons. You can find them on Facebook as well as at FirehouseGuitars.com! Peace and stay local...

Spit Spat Records: The Difference
It was great chatting with all of the members from Spit Spat. Today I wanted to put out an audio podcast that would give everyone a chance out there to sample some of the awesome stuff that is being concocted by this indie hip hop crew from Muskegon, who are starting to edge more and more towards the experimental label they claim as new faces get involved and fresh material circulates.
Along with the main members Spit/Spat has a lot of amazing support from the community and fellow members of the music scene (like the guys from MuxRec, another Muskegon record label and recording project) who contribute time and moonlighting efforts to making live shows happen. A lot of talented people are involved in creating media and video footage as well. Shouts out to Amanda Sanborn and many others who are making Spit/Spat a dynamic and interactive experience for all of those who are lucky enough to connect.
I’m also very pleased and honored to announce that my own electronic project, “Chantron” is going to be a Spit/Spat release and should be making its way into the public eye some time in the summer. This is a project between myself and Phill Meeh and to get a feeling for it, you’ll probably need to go and check out Chantron.Bandcamp.com. Make sure you find it on facebook as well! There is a single teaser track called “Two: Helix” that is up at the moment. More will be added soon.
So without further ado, get into our podcast and listen in on some talented West Michiganites. Please remember to come out and support the music scene, get out to shows, and open your mind up to new forms of music and independent artists. There will be even more new and suprising things coming from Spit/Spat as we enter 2011 so keep your ears and your eyes open. Thanks for joining us this time around…and as the Spit Spat boys like to say…That’s what’s up!

Infinite Design: "The Heaviest Thing We
Could Get Away With"
_________________
There is no “attitude” when it comes to Infinite Design. If the 5 piece from Muskegon hadn’t been pulling guitars off the wall for a closer look at Firehouse, you would never know they are in a seriously heavy project that is still getting off it’s feet in terms of lineups, but gaining ground and purpose. They are doing this sans image. Scoreboard!
It was easy to chat about anything and everything with these guys. We talked about recording obstacles, spreading the love for local music, and the limited life of cymbals in any “pissed” project. Luckily for them, the next time they shred a ride or crash, they’ll have coupons for Firehouse Guitars, thanks to the sponsorship of S.I.P at this local Muskegon music store! Make sure to stop in and check it out—and know that Firehouse is welcoming more band interviews and coupons to those participating!

Check out the podcast and make sure you listen to what they have to say, and don’t forget to stay tuned for the two songs at the end from their 2010 EP, “The Architect.” The track titles are “Symbiotic Infusion” and “Fallen Sands Of Life Lines.” Don’t forget to check out their Facebook page for more information on upcoming shows, such as Muskegon Metal and Hardcore Fest on Saturday, January 29th. Skeetown will be covering that one, hopefully broadcasting some vid for everyone to scope out!

Dan Wieten: The Omega Experiment
Happy Thanksgiving, Y'all! Time for dessert...
He showed up on time and ready to share some of the interest behind the collaborative solo project he has been working on for over the last year. Beyond this incarnation, Dan has performed in many bands in the past and is currently involved with other local musicians in other projects, as well.
Check out the podcast, which is 30 minutes long and comprised of our conversation over coffee and also features three songs at the end, starting at about 12 minutes in. Ranging in style and genre from techno to electronic tech metal and everything in between, Dan is representative of a solo artist and recording engineer who has been cultivating his own brand in Muskegon for over a decade.
Thanks to Dan for his participation and we hope you enjoy the tracks! Make sure to check out The Omega Experiment at:
